My Story:
My name is Racheal Hiciano and I am the founder of Unbroken. I was born and raised in KCMO. I am a survivor of human trafficking and a recovering drug addict. I spent over half my life in the street life even almost giving my very life to the streets. I tried numerous times to get out to no avail no one wants to help a homeless junkie. It wasn't until I was arrested in December of 2018 on a felony warrant and ended up going to jail not knowing when or even if I would be let out. I had given up all hope. This actually was the beginning of my journey. While incarcerated, I started reading the Bible. I was raised in the church so I knew about God but I didn't know him. Little by little he started to soften my heart to his words. I was looking at a lot of prison time. I was in my cell one night and I asked God to please deliver me from this and give me one last chance to get it right. He let me stay in jail for a month before I was allowed to go to work release. It was there that I met my very good friends from Anchor Her. They came alongside me, loved on me and showed me what a true Christian woman looks like and I wanted what they had. I learned from them and decided I wanted to help people who were like me. The broken and voiceless ones, the invisible people that nobody ever notices. I was once just like them. When I decided to start unbroken my main mission was to give a voice to the voiceless and let people see that they are people to. We do this by hosting and helping with events, our clothing closet, and through partnerships with other ministries. If we don't show the people that they are seen then who will?
